Meet Jay and Shan’tel

Christmas with the Routts

What is your name and how did you all meet? We are Shantel & Jason Routt. We met during a play we were rehearsing for and engaged in a conversation about our hobbies and mutual interest.

What you do for a living: I am a Financial Manager for a major firm here in the tri-state and I own a full service event planning company. Jason owns his own landscaping company and he also a government official.

How long you have been together (married and dating) We have been dating since 2018 and we will be married for two years April of this year.

How has marriage changed you for the better? Marriage has brought us closer physically, spritually and mentally. We have grown together and have learned each others love language. We are not perfect by far but we are imperfectly perfect for each other. As business owners and parents it’s great to have to know you have a partner you can count on for support. And the fact we both have similar aspirations and goal makes things even better.

What advice would you say is the key a long lasting, fruitful relationship? I would say communication and understanding. Without communication you have nothing. A relationship is not one sided so you have to be able to communicate with your spouse your wants and needs. Compromise is also key to ensure both parties are seen and heard.

And lastly what sweet things would you like say to your spouse this Valentines Day?

Shantel: Jason you are a husband who truly loves your wife. I never have to question your loyalty to me or go a day without knowing I’m loved. You show me that love takes courage, patience, compassion and understanding. We may not always see eye to eye or disagree here and there but we communicate and continue to grow together. This Valentine’s Day I want you to know that one day doesn’t define the love we share but helps us remember to slow down and make time for each other. As my husband, protector, doctor and so many hats that you wear thank you for your love and endless support it is not taken for granted.

Jason: Shantel thank you! Thank you for giving me the time so you can get to know me, accepting who I am, and giving me the opportunity to be a husband. Most importantly for the first time being a father to a beautiful baby girl and letting me be a father for our son. Yes, I was set in my ways, but you opened my world up to new opportunities, showing me the network scene is probably something I never knew I would be a part of and it’s awesome because I have become friends with some great individuals. You give me life with your encouragement and support, and I could not be more appreciative of that. The love is genuine, and most people out there should find love in a similar manner because it will change your life. Thank you for loving me the way you do! Your energy is infectious, and I will reciprocate that tenfold! I love you and Thank You for loving me!
