The world of pageantry allows you cross paths with so many amazing women doing amazing things in this world and Rachel Roberts is one of the many women I have come across that have been an inspiration in my pageant journey. She is definitely a humble trailblazer and a servant leader. She is none other than Mrs. Rachel Roberts!
What’s your name and what do you do?
My name is Rachel Roberts and I am a plus size pageant queen! I have been competing in pageants for 10 years now. There are so many things that go into that and I’m excited to share that with you today. My platform is “Beauty is NOT Flawless.” It teaches women and anyone else that no matter what life throws at you, you are worth the time it takes to love yourself and to know that those challenges make you more beautiful in the end. “Beauty is NOT Flawless” is about celebrating ourselves even though we aren’t perfect.
What has been some of your challenges?
Being a plus size pageant queen has it’s own seperate challenges. The obvious challenge is navigating the pageant world as someone who is not typically painted as the picture of a pageant queen. For me my greatest challenge is living with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS is a condition that affects the reproductive system and can cause a lot of pain. Some days when I am competing in pageants, I have a difficult time battling not only competition but also PCOS. As a result of my PCOS, I struggle mentally to have confidence in myself. I work very hard every day to not let negative thoughts play a role in my life. My platform helps me remember to give myself grace and to not give up.
What are your greatest accomplishments?
I have a hard time bragging about my accomplishments but there are a few I am very proud of. My first national pageant title was Miss Plus america 2017 and I have recently been crowned Miss Plus America Lifetime #19 for my many years of service to the pageant system. In 2021 I was crowned Ms. Ultimate All World Beauties which was the overall highpoint title. Outside of the pageant world, I own a small business called Tumblers & Tiaras where I custom make tumblers, notebooks, and anything you can really think of! I am also a proud member of Chi Sigma Delta sorority where I was the ACE of the Crown Jewel Line.
What are your plans for the future?
Currently, I am involved with a top-secret project that was revealed on Labor Day! I am joining forces with 4 other amazing women as the inaugural Plus USA Majesty and the first Plus USA pageant will be next fall! It is an amazing opportunity to be a part of something new and exciting. I am also planning on going back to school and completing my Bachelor’s degree for now… but would love that masters one day! I will be working on a degree in hospitality and communications. I would love to be a professional event planner and hopefully quit my desk job!! Even further in the future, I’d love to start a family with my amazing husband Brandon.
