A #SITIGirlVI Review – Baddies, Books, & Brunch

When it comes to amplifying and celebrating women and their work, SITI Girl Virgin Islands takes that seriously and looks for any way to make that happen. When the opportunity came to sponsor “Baddies, Books, & Brunch” by Accountability Coach, Brand & Content Strategist LeAnn Taylor, we could not pass it up!

We traveled across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the home of the NSU Spartans (Norfolk, VA) to Headquarters by Fly Girl Boutique to be in the room where it happened! This chic event was a vibe- from the decor to the food and the women in attendance. Baddies, Books, & Brunch was the ultimate trifecta for women who love to read, mingle, and brunch. This event had a bohemian chic vibe and was a breath of fresh air for book lovers and social (and not-so-social) butterflies alike. The food was a culinary delight of small fares that satisfied even the pickiest palettes, with a spread of pastries, fruit, artisan sandwiches, desserts, and a pasta salad that made all of our grandmothers proud.

To be clear, this was not an empowerment event. LeAnn’s mission was to increase literacy among women, black women, in her community and to get like-minded bibliophiles in the same room to geek out, share space, and learn something new from other women that shared the same sentiments. It was genuinely an afternoon to hear amazing music, enjoy someone’s company, and leave with a new book and, hopefully, a new friend.

And that is what happened, but you had to have been there! It was such an amazing and intimate afternoon. The sounds of soulful R&B and neo-soul filled the room from the voice of the amazing M.O. Morgan Stewart. Her voice is so beautiful, pure, and far-ranging you could not help but be caught in every note she sang. And we mean she, SANG!! Whew!

If you wanted a little more engagement or new digital memories for the event, Haus of Dreams provided a photo booth and throne fit for a queen to capture the baddie, hype, or posh side of you. What you gave is what you got, and the outcome was lit! Shoutout to all of the new friendships and kinships that were created; there was a beautiful energy in the air that made the event that much better.

The highlight of the event was watching women receive their flowers literally and figuratively (well, sorta). LeAnn’s team and best friends poured into her for being the amazing and gifted visionary, supportive friend, mother, daughter, and sis she is. Watching those who love hard receive the love they deserve is cathartic to witness. Second, to that, SITI Girl Virgin Islands sponsored a cover feature for a lucky raffle winner; the winner is the recipient of a magazine cover spread inclusive of a magazine cover and feature story. The winner Erica Evans also known as “E-Class,” a vessel of vibrant energy, was surprised to win and to learn exactly what she won!

As the day came to a close, there was an immense sense of gratitude for the experience. “Baddies, Books, & Brunch” exceeded our expectations in every way, providing an inclusive and welcoming space for women to connect, whether a seasoned bookworm or new to the literary world. It was a vibe, and we cannot wait for the next event!
