Mommy + Me: Rehenia, KéDeya, & Kensi
Military mom, Rehenia, proves that with unwavering determination and a commitment to hard work, it’s possible to juggle a demanding federal and military career while also being a fantastic mother. Her story is a shining example of what can be accomplished when we set our minds to something and refuse to give up, no matter how challenging the road ahead may seem. Mom to KéDeya, 10, and Kensi, 6, life is about embracing the things that make us happy and fulfilled.
For Rehenia, that means devouring anything supernatural, murder mystery, or thriller. And if she’s not in front of the screen, you’ll probably catch her with her nose buried in a book. But her greatest joy comes from her amazing daughters, who share her passion for cheerleading, gymnastics, singing, and cooking. They are a tight-knit crew, always seeking out new adventures and making unforgettable memories along the way, and she’s so grateful to have her girls by her side for all the great experiences.
The experiences come with the good, bad, and challenges that working mothers face. As a parent, Rehenia’s top priority is the well-being of her children. However, her biggest challenge is constantly worrying about whether her decisions will adversely affect them. It’s crucial for her to ensure that she is making the best choices for my KéDeya and Kensi. It’s easy to cave to a challenge; instead, Rehenia rises to it and makes things happen. She knows that with determination and a can-do attitude, anything is possible. As a mom, she wants to inspire her girls to approach life with the same resilience and determination.
Resilience, determination, and a lot of time management help Rehenia be on top of her mom game. Understanding the importance of managing her time effectively takes some of the edge off as she navigates motherhood and her personal goals. Leveraging her military experience to launch her logistics company is essential, but her children are also a priority. Therefore, making sure that she carves out enough time to spend with them and pursue her goals is necessary.
KéDeya and Kensi are growing and curious young girls, so ensuring they have a good relationship with their mom is important. Maintaining open and honest communication with her girls is critical, and Rehenia makes sure they know that they are supported no matter what. Hugs and kisses can make a big difference in expressing love and care, and It’s important to acknowledge mistakes and apologize when necessary, as moms are only human, after all. We make mistakes, but knowing how to be accountable and responsible for those mistakes is what makes a better person.
A lesson she is adamant about teaching her girls is to be better people, love one another, and treat people the way they want to be treated. This means embracing similarities, respecting differences, and appreciating where they come from. With their roots in the Virgin Islands, with connections to the BVI, Antigua, St. Kitts, and Nevis, embracing culture and understanding how it impacts them drives their sense of adventure and exploring new places.
