Name: Candace Pixley

Family dynamics: I am the daughter of Melvin and Carolyn Pixley, Jr, the oldest sister of Brittany, Jeremy, Jordan, and Armond, and the Auntie of Isaac

Hobbies/Pastimes: I love visiting nature parks where there is water, and I also love playing video games when I have the time.

Business/Talent? I am the owner of Virtually Precise, LLC, the creator of Queenly Things Journals, a pageant Queen (American Beauties Plus Elite 2023/2024), and I recently started a community on Clubhouse called The Worship Corner.

Where are you from? Johnston, South Carolina

What are you passionate about? What’s the driving force behind it? Helping other people, being present in my community, inspiring young girls and women who may not feel like there is a place for them in certain spaces, and living a good and righteous life.

What’s your skill set? I am analytical and precise no matter what I am working on at the moment.

What sets you apart from others in your field? I am a perfectionist and will work on or look over something over and over again before completion.

What’s your purpose in life? I am still trying to figure this out; however, I want to make sure I use my life to inspire people to be a better person today than they were yesterday and keep progressing.

If you could choose any career in the world, would you still choose the career or talent you have? No, I would be a professional flautist and travel the world with symphonies. Upon retirement, I would be a band director and marching band instructor.

What would you tell your younger self? Follow what you’re passionate about now. If you don’t like it, you will at least have the experience of trying and the beauty of another chance to start over.

Knowing what you know now, would you change anything in your past? Yes. I would pursue my music and not let anyone talk me out of it because it was my dream and it’s what I wanted to do.

Who are your role models? All the women in my family. Each of them played an important part in who I am today. I was able to learn from them what to do and what not to do in my life and learning from them has led me to some beautiful places in this world. They are my cloud of witnesses and I am grateful.

What would you say to those who are starting in your field? Brace yourself and find out who you truly are first, then act accordingly. If you don’t like the path you’re on after you’ve given your best effort, start over or find a new path, and don’t give up until you find where it is you’re supposed to be.

What is your favorite quote? Explain? “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” by Henry David Thoreau – This is my favorite quote because as we move through this life, win or lose, confidence is the differentiator to learning from and getting something beneficial out of our life experiences.

If you could leave a lasting impression, what would that look like? I would hope to be able to impress upon others hope, righteousness, perseverance, happiness, poise, grace, and lastly overcoming.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? In 5 years I will be living abroad preferably in an African country or Switzerland. In 10 years, I will be established in a country outside of the United States and volunteering with children to empower them to work towards productive futures.

What or who has inspired your gift/vision? I have traveled to Cameroon and Ghana in Africa and each time I have met children who have been so driven and hungry for education and learning of the world around them. They are already doing such a great job with everything they do and if I can help them expand on what they are already doing then that is what I will do.

What is your favorite holiday and why? I don’t celebrate many commercial holidays these days but I do enjoy Mother’s Day and Father’s Day because as a woman of faith, the Bible teaches me to honor my Father and my Mother. I love, honor, and respect my parents in my everyday life; however, any opportunity to magnify that love, honor, and respect does my heart well. I also like Siblings Day in April because my siblings are my favorite people in the world. Shoutout to Brittany, Jeremy, Jordan, and Armond! Finally, I love Auntie’s Day because it’s one of my favorite titles in the whole world and my nephew has enriched my life in unimaginable ways.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? I would be a penguin. They stick together, live such predictable lives because they follow seasonal patterns, and they’re so cute! I took a liking to penguins after watching the movie Happy Feet some years ago. Mumble reminded me of me and he won my heart.

What is one fun fact about you? In high school, I was in the play Sound of Music where I sang a solo in Latin in the opening act of the play.
