Mental Health ain’t for Punks

Taking care of our Mental Health is one of the BEST forms of self-care and gifts that we can offer ourselves and those that we love.  But where do we start?

Meet Shar’ron Mason, an Indianapolis native that provides therapy services to couples, families and individuals through her private practice and as a Staff Therapist for Christian Theological Seminary Counseling Center. She also facilitates workshops geared towards promoting healthier relationships with self and others.  After completing her Masters of Art Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015, she opened her private practice, “Love that Relationship” just two years later.  She also published her first book the same year, “Marriage Ain’t for Punks”.

“Love That Relationship strives to share simple ways of implementing self-care and self-love from the inside out on a daily basis. Shar’ron personally strives to live the life that she desires every day which begins with prioritizing her own self-care. It isn’t easy; however, being intentional about her “YES’s” and my “No’s” makes it a little easier.

What inspired Shar’ron to begin this line of work?  “About 10 years ago, God spoke to me as I was having a pity party in my cubicle and told me to create the life that I wanted. I was taken aback because I had long lost hope that what I truly wanted in life could really be attained. As a single mother who had experienced failed relationships and hardships of my own doing and through things that were outside of my control, I felt rather helpless and somewhat hopeless. God’s short visit to my pity party reawakened the dreamer in me and reignited my zest to live wholeheartedly. Since that time I have been diligently working with Him to first of all figure out what truly makes my soul sing and then to live intentionally to make it a reality.”

One of the biggest challenges of this line of work has been consistently getting these amazing services and products into the hands of those that can best benefit from them. So, in addition to the in person services and books that Shar’ron offers, in the near future she is planning to offer online courses and workshops on various topics for greater mental and emotional wellness.

This lady isn’t just an amazing author and therapist, there’s more! Raising her daughter into being a beautiful well-rounded young lady has been her greatest personal accomplishment. While professionally, her greatest accomplishments have been opening her own therapy practice and publishing 4 books and 8 journals.  In addition to releasing her own books, supporting my brother and other writers in publishing their own works has also been extremely fulfilling.  She also offers publishing workshops for new authors looking to publish their written creations!
