Not All Superwomen Wear Capes

In just 34 years, Katie Arthur, this month’s cover girl, has lived a thousand lifetimes.  From mental health to physical well-being to unplanned pregnancy to divorce, etc. If it could happen to someone it probably has happened to her, but you would never guess from the never-ending smile she wears.

Katie is a beautiful wife to “Dan the Man”, a mom of three, HR professional, Doctoral Student, and community volunteer.  She is a #IAMRemarkable facilitator, New Palestine Education Foundation Board Member, Treasurer for Brandywine Elementary PTO, Treasurer for Black Autism Support Society, Flashes of Hope volunteer, and Lifetime Miss Circle City Indy Pageant Queen. WHEW! Where does she find the time? It’s always said that if you want to get something done, you ask a Supermom to do it and that’s Katie!

From organizing fundraising galas to driving carpools, she never ceases to leave the world better than she found it. Most recently, she has partnered with the Black Autism Support Society, also known as “BASS”.  The mission of BASS is to address the intersection of race and autism. Support is addressed through four pillars: Social Justice, Individual/Family, Education, and Spirituality. You can learn more by visiting blackautismsupport.com

BASS is currently in the process of planning its annual Summer Event and they are currently accepting sponsors for the event. Please reach out via the website if interested!

Katie is excited about this new partnership with the Black Autism Support Society and what the future holds for this organization. “Aside from building relationships in this new community, I’m excited to see what this new season of parenthood looks like”.

When she’s not personally serving, she’s teaching her mini-me’s to follow in her footsteps. Training her tribe to give back and to “be the change they want to see in the world” while pursuing their dreams and goals gives them the ability to benefit from the good feeling as they serve others. Katie has always loved giving and doing for others, so she is passionate about paying it forward to future generations.

Katie wants to give a big shout-out to her village. “It took me like 30 years to find “my people”. The ones that love the whole me and I owe so much of my success to them.:  On the flip side of the challenges that she’s faced are all of her incredible accomplishments. “I’m a happily married mother of three. My kiddos are my absolute pride and joy! I have a Master’s in Management and Leadership and I’m currently working on my Doctorate in Business Administration. My greatest accomplishment though was finding my voice and confidence. That really came to life for me as a #IamRemarkable facilitator. I made it past all the challenges life has thrown at me by also having an “attitude of gratitude”. I go into every situation not with a defeatist attitude, but an attitude that everything will always (eventually) work out.” And she is grateful for all the things! A sunny day, seeing a butterfly, hugs from her amazing kiddos, and just constantly looking for the good.

She feels it’s important that women know that they have it within themselves to change the world. There is no action that is too small. I also want people to know that “you can’t change the whole world at once.” Pick the causes and organizations that you’re passionate about and gravitate towards those. While Katie’s passions are supporting women and children, education, and mental health, she cares about other things as well. “Do I also care about maybe sea turtles for example? Sure, but I can’t do it all so I leave the caring about sea turtles to those who are really passionate about them.”  One special cause that is near and dear to her heart is the LiveLikeB Foundation, in honor of an amazing kiddo that was a classmate of Katie’s son.  Please visit the LiveLikeB Foundation website to see how you can support families and kiddos suffering from DIPG.
