Why I Wear Red: My Testimony

#StandYourGround

When they say “I’m glad I dont look like what I been through” they were telling the truth.

The Sunday before Christmas in 2021, I experienced the most frightening moment of my life. I was fine that Saturday night but was getting a headache but didn’t think anything of it because I have been having them periodically lately more frequent so I just took a tylenol and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning (Sunday, December 19th) feeling rather odd and woozy. Thought I was experiencing one of my vertigo episodes so I just laid back down. I got up to fix me something to eat and drunk some water was hoping to feel better. About an hour later needed to use the bathroom so I proceeded to get up and move about, but my left leg gave out from under me. I was like mannn what is happening I’m like okay lay down and drink some water maybe you are dehydrated. 30 minutes later my body got hot and my left arm went numb and felt pain in my left shoulder.

I was soooo scared so I called my mom and she took me to the hospital, once I got there I went on a stroke alert. They pumped me with fluids, ran tests. Stated that nothing was wrong but said they needed to keep me overnight for observation. I was soooo scared like what is happening but what I do know is that something was very wrong. The next morning the doctor stated that they were going to release me in which I fought tooth and nail. Still barely able to walk without assistance I had to go home. Got home woke up the next Morning worse than when I was in hospital. I say all this to say #StandYourGround. After 2 months later I finally got a doctor to listen to me to give me the referral I have asked for since that day. I am now experiencing the same symptoms 2 years later but at least I know that I have to fight for what I believe because I only have one life.

I #WearRed for myself and my daddy. I believed whole heartedly that I experienced a #TIA  a Mini Stroke. My dad passed away from a heart attack so I’m definitely an advocate for healthy heart and preventative measures.
