Meet our NOLA Girl, Renee Dalton-Forbes

Tell us about yourself!

I go by Reneé A. Dalton, proudly hailing from the vibrant city of New Orleans. Within my family, I’m affectionately known as “mama” to Brandi and Kristopher, and I recently entered wedded bliss with my beloved Patrick J. Forbes, Sr. My roots run deep in the heart of New Orleans, where I received my education, and I am a very proud graduate of the esteemed St. Mary’s Academy. I share my journey with one brother, Charles, and two sisters, Kyera and Keandrys, and I am blessed with a total of 5 nieces and 5 nephews.

I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and currently find myself immersed in a Doctoral program focused on Higher Educational Leadership. My professional journey led me to my current role as an Academic Advisor at a local college. Among the many hats I wear in life, the one that resonates with the most profound purpose is my role as a Christian. I proudly serve as the Church Facilitator at Faith Temple Church of God The Holy Ghost Center, led by my mother, Bishop Gladier D. Dalton. My passion lies in serving and giving to others, and I wholeheartedly consider this my ministry. My journey continues to be a testament to my dedication to faith, family, and education.

Where do you see your brand/business/passion in the next 5 years?

I am deeply passionate about my aspiration to establish a 24-hour daycare facility in the city of New Orleans. My dream revolves around acquiring property within the city limits and operating a facility that caters to the diverse needs of children throughout the community. Over the course of the next five years, my ultimate goal is to witness the full realization and flourishing success of this dream.

In addition to my commitment to childcare, I am equally enthusiastic about the prospect of educating and empowering others. In line with this vision, I aspire to see the Reneé A. Dalton Initiative transform into RECONNECT. I firmly believe that through unwavering dedication and sheer determination, I can bring these aspirations to fruition.

What has been your biggest accomplishment and why?

My most significant achievement was the successful completion of my Master’s degree. This accomplishment occurred during a particularly challenging phase in my life, marked by a tumultuous divorce. Despite the emotional turmoil and self-doubt that plagued me, I persevered by relying on my faith and divine guidance. Ultimately, I emerged triumphant, graduating with an impressive 3.9 GPA.

What message is on your heart to share right now?

The profound message I feel compelled to convey to others at this moment is that even in the darkest and seemingly unattainable moments, God remains by your side. Even when the path ahead appears closed, He possesses the power to pave a way forward, provided you hold onto your faith. I also wish to emphasize the transformative influence of prayer on circumstances; when you approach God earnestly in prayer, He not only listens but He responds. It is essential to pray for wisdom to accept His answers and to seek His guidance in aligning your pursuits with His divine plan for your life.

What do you love most about New Orleans?

What I cherish most about New Orleans is its unique culture, which stands unrivaled by any other. Numerous cities make earnest attempts to replicate it, but it remains an exceptional characteristic of being able to embrace one’s true self. We possess our distinct dialect, culinary delights, and a vibrant array of entertainment, making our culture truly one of a kind.
