Rewind! Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Lady Takeover

Every year the Pink Ladies come to town in the Twin Cites to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the ladies are lead by 2X Breast Cancer Survivor, Pam Weems. The concept of Pink Ladies was created to give affordable opportunities for survivors and there supporters to attend activities and celebrations throughout the month.

The Think Pink Event, promotes the importance of early detection in breast cancer. Ms. Weems wants to educate the community about the signs and ways to find early detection in the the community of color.

Each year the extravagant event, that is covered in every shade of pink that you can imagine caters to women of color survivors and supporters. The event started with a vision after Ms. Weems realized that many of the breast cancer events that were being offered were extremely expensive to attend or participate in. Ms. Weems made it her business to change this dynamic and offer a beautiful event for women like herself. She wanted to showcase women of color that were breast cancer survivors and provide a place for families to give remembrance to those that were lost as well.

This year was extraordinary the Pink Ladies were everywhere you turned. You were able to see them out in the community making appearances and educating the community. Ms. Weems was awarded for her service at many events throughout the month and was even give a Proclamation for her own day by the Governor. Not to mention she was given the opportunity to share story on the big screen documenting her personal journey as a survivor. Twin Cities Siti Girls gives you your flowers Ms. Weems.
