Where are you from? I’m from the only place in Georgia that matters… DECATUR SHAWTY!

What are you passionate about? What’s the driving force behind it? I am passionate about helping individuals expose and escape from the trauma that holds them captive to their thoughts and experiences. When I learned to stop taking things personally and realized that most people’s actions were based on a trauma response, it gave me clear insight into how I could help myself and others. Healing is no easy task for many people; the process can be just as hurtful as the actual trauma itself. However, I’ve had a difficult time watching others consistently sabotage themselves and damage those around them because they didn’t know the steps to healing, refused to heal, or didn’t even realize that they had healing to do. I truly believe this lack of awareness has significantly impacted the African American community. My ultimate goal is to help rebuild the Black family and contribute to overcoming this battle of the sexes. That is why coaching singles is so important to me. The driving force behind this is I’ve always believed that when you have a calling on your life, and you are fortunate to know what it is, you piss God off when you don’t walk in your purpose. I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t want beef with God. That’s the driving force.

What’s your skill set? Mastering my skill set has come with years of personal experience, acquiring knowledge, coaching, and investing in my education. Even though I learned some of my skill sets the hard way, it was necessary and well worth it. Mindset transformation, introspection, self-discovery, self-accountability, self-validation, self-direction, self-improvement, effective communication, active listening, patience, relationship building, strategy, problem-solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, analysis, empathy, and resilience.

What sets me apart from others in my field? I’m here for the transformation, and not for the coddling. I am obligated to tell you the truth. I’m no stranger to ruffling a few feathers, but people always appreciate my alliance with the truth. They realize they can’t build based on the stories they’ve been telling themselves. Also, I refuse to coach individuals on something I have not healed from. I do not get a kick out of trauma bonding with those seeking help from me. I’m going to do it right, or I’m not going to do it at all. I am completely over the foolishness trending on social media—a bunch of coaches and influencers giving bad advice with no real solutions to keep clients coming back.

What’s your purpose in life? I’m not ashamed to say that I haven’t always had it figured out; I made some bad decisions that could have cost me my life. I was at a place where I didn’t understand why things weren’t going my way. I felt like good people weren’t supposed to go through bad experiences. But to hear God whisper in your ear, “This ain’t about you.” brought so much perspective to my life purpose. I realized my trials and tribulations were to teach people how to heal and renew their minds as I did.

If you could choose any career in the world, would you still choose the career or talent you have? Yeah, but… If I just had to pick something different. I definitely would have been a dentist or a dermatologist. I have a fascination with teeth and blackheads.

What would you tell your younger self? Everything that you need is already within you. It’s up to you to get you where you need to be. God has the final say and will ultimately do what’s best for you. Trust him. Don’t go back and open doors that he has already closed. Everybody doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. So, choose yourself and never feel guilty about it. Being a ride-or-die is not an accolade. Not everyone deserves your love. Be careful who you pour into or you will ride AND die. Never let a person disrespect, cross, or show you they don’t want you more than once. Stay in the gym five days a week and put down the cupcakes. Buy property downtown. It’s going to boom in the next 15 years.

Knowing what you know now, would you change anything in your past? One change from my past could alter everything as I know it. God allowed me to experience trials and tribulations not as punishment but to grow me. I’m thankful for the good in the bad, so I wouldn’t change anything. I have no regrets!

Who are your role models? My mom, dad, and grandmother are my role models. I’ve watched all three of them accomplish great things. Oftentimes, we look outside of our lineage to seek out role models, but I didn’t know one celebrity or historian who could touch these three. I have watched them move through life with grace, dignity, and an unwavering love for God. I appreciate them for everything.

What would you say to those who are starting out in your field? Never stop learning. The more you invest in yourself, the more you master your craft. Realize that you don’t know everything and should never want to be the most intelligent person in the room. Learn when to listen and understand when you shouldn’t speak.

What is your favorite quote? If one asks for success and prepares for failure, he will get the situation he has prepared for. –Florence Scovel Shinn

If you could leave a lasting impression, what would that look like? LOVE AND HONESTY! If I have ever loved you, you’ll never forget it. It’s not to sound cocky. But I know what I know if you know what I mean. See, I love wholeheartedly, selflessly, and at times unconsciously. I love others like I want to be loved. I treat others the way I want to be treated. Most importantly, I handle others’ hearts how I want my own handled. If you ever get the opportunity, you’ll realize that the way I love you is genuine and that good people exist. I understand that love is an expression of God’s greatest gift!

Where do you see yourself in five years? 10 years?

In five years, I envision myself as a successful and profitable businesswoman with multiple investment properties, coaching at seminars and retreats, and enjoying a healthy relationship with my husband. In ten years, though it may sound crazy, I aspire to retire, spend time with my family, travel the world, and further grow my investments. Additionally, I would love to write and produce my own movie.

What or who inspired your gift/vision?

My best-kept secret. My therapist.

When I was younger, older people used to say that black people didn’t need therapists. We should go to church and pray, and everything will be alright. Truly, part of me believed that even though I had dreams of one day becoming a therapist. So, I navigated my issues by myself and sometimes with my friends. However, I reached a point where I was tired of talking, they were tired of listening, and I was on Jesus’ mainline on hold. No solutions and no progress. I could help everyone else figure out their issues, but for some reason, life had grabbed hold of me, and I was spiraling out of control. One night, about 10 years ago, as I was driving home, tears began to flow uncontrollably, forcing me to pull my car over on the side of I-20. I could barely see the road. I cried and prayed, and prayed and cried. At that moment, I made a phone call that changed my life.

From the first moment I stepped into her office, she has always treated me with the utmost respect as a patient and potential colleague. She has been a positive example of what a therapist should be—inspiring, motivating, and educating me in life and business. She is the one person in the world who knows everything about me, giving me grace and challenging me simultaneously.

I didn’t fully understand the magnitude of what it feels like to show up 100% for other people when life is life’n for you and everyone else until I became a coach. I commend her for waking up every day and choosing to help others weather their storms. Trust me, it’s easy to say, “Forget them; I’ve got my life in order,” or “I just don’t feel like it, so I’m not.” But she’s built for it. And she’s MY person!!!

If you could be an animal, what would you be and why? Screaming with laughter. If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me. Back in the day, to be compared to this animal would have been a negative thing. However, when I really sat and thought about this question, some things about this animal I had never considered became apparent… When you really think about it, it is not limited to its environment. When it’s tired of flying, they can go swimming. When it’s tired of swimming, it can walk. They have the opportunity to expose themselves to a variety of different things. And to top things off, even after this animal is hunted and eaten, it’s still considered a delicacy. So, like this animal, I try not to limit myself and am willing to explore new things. And even when I’m hunted by life’s predators. I still hold my value. Have you guessed it yet? A duck, I would be a duck.

What’s a fun fact about Victoria?

I have a strong dislike for fruit in any state other than its original form. I can’t stand hot fruit!
