Getting out of Your Comfort Zone

Sometimes as we get older it is required out of our comfort zone.  Have you ever been in a situation where you were comfortable, or where you didn’t see any advancement?  It is times when we are comfortable, that we must make ourselves uncomfortable.  Are you asking yourself, “Is she crazy?  I am comfortable, why in the world would I need to be uncomfortable?”  Sometimes when we are comfortable, we get complacent and we begin to stall what God is calling for us to be.  I was in a school where I was really comfortable, meaning I loved my administration, yes my administration, I loved my team and I loved my students; and I was not looking for anything else.  What that translates to is that I was not giving my mind room to grow because I was doing the same things everyday and could have possibly done them in my sleep.  I was not happy because I was comfortable and afraid to see what was waiting for me.  As women, we want to be comfortable.  We don’t want to rock the boat but sometimes you need to.  I was talking with an administrator about ways that I could improve and the number one thing she said was that I didn’t meet discord head on and you know what she was right.  By meeting this discord head on I was messing with my comfort and therefore being content with what was happening around me.  Honestly, it was scary for me because I was afraid it would change a dynamic and force me to grow.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Are you comfortable because you choose not to point out when others are wrong?
  2. Are you longing to challenge yourself but afraid that it may challenge your comfortability?

If the answer is yes, then God may be leading you in a direction and you are fighting your hardest to stay comfortable.
